Angelina Jolie slams US Military spending in Iraq

Angelina Jolie has slammed the US government for spending millions on military operations in Iraq, insisting that the same would have been better utilized on education.

Speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative, an event organized by Bill Clinton to address the most pressing global concerns, Jolie urged the world to "prioritize in order".

The UN goodwill ambassador insisted that an entire UNICEF appeal for educational needs would cost only as much as eight hours' spending in Iraq - and would help benefit 150,000 children.

"The entire appeal equals about eight hours of current spending in Iraq. So just a few hours would send 150,000 children to school," she said.

"Nothing wins more hearts and minds and nothing gives more freedom than education; and nothing is a better deterrent for conflict than an educated child," she added.

Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston share 'Most Powerful Actress' title

It is not just Brad Pitt whom Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have in common, for both have secured the 'Most Powerful Actress' title in this year's Guinness Book of World Records.

For the 2007 edition of the book, the PR coverage and earnings of Jolie over the year were assessed.

Jolie gave a sparkling performance in the CIA thriller The Good Shepherd and her role as the wife of murdered journalist Daniel Pearl in A Mighty Heart is expected to fetch her an Oscar.

The 32--year-old and Pitt have been under the media spotlight for their relationship and their adopted kids -Maddox, Zahara, Pax, and their biological daughter Shiloh.

Meanwhile, Aniston's private life has been highly publicized due to her fling with Vince Vaughn and a reported affair with Brit model Paul Sculfor.

All of Angelina Jolie's men want her to 'put on weight'

When Angelina Jolie spoke to her brother James Haven and ex husband Jonny Lee Miller about current beau Brad Pitt's concerns over her weight, she never expected them to side with him, or insist that she needs to put on a few pounds.

Haven also told Ange that she was lucky to have a man like Brad.

The actress' shrinking figure has been blamed on overwork and depression, and has been a sore topic for the past couple for months. Brad, 43, has been unable to say or do anything to make a difference because every time he mentions it, an insider reveals that Jolie 'flips'.

"In Touch" magazine reports that Brad and Angie are very keen to have another baby and had even planned on being in China next year to await the birth of their next child. But that was before they knew it would take so long for her to get pregnant.

At the time of Shiloh, Angie had no problem conceiving. Not so this time. Experts blame the weight loss for this. Dr Christiane Northrup an ob-gyn who does not treat Angelina says "underweight women often don't have enough body fat to maintain the normal hormone levels necessary for ovulation."

Angelina's inability to conceive has caused more tension in her relationship with Brad. She flew to LA for an appointment with her doctor and has since gained a few pounds. She was seen on a few occasions eating ice cream with her son Maddox. But even then she didn't look like she was enjoying eating it.

Dr jason Rothbart who delivered her daughter Shiloh in Namibia has given her a solemn warning that she needs to put on weight if she wants to conceive another child.

Christina Aguilera insists she's never been happier

The 'Dirrty' singer - who is rumored to be pregnant with her first child by husband Jordan Bratman - feels completely content with her life.

Christina told Britain's Grazia magazine: "I feel so happy in my life right now. I feel comfortable about myself - completely secure - and that has nothing to do with being married, because you can easily marry the wrong person. It's about being with the right man and having gone on this journey and getting to this place where I am right now."

The 26-year-old star - who regularly witnessed her mother falling victim to domestic abuse when she was growing up - has learnt to tame her outrageous behavior.

Christina said: "I had a very emotional childhood and heavy past and everything to do with domestic violence can color you. But ultimately, it's all about choices, not victimizing yourself and having the strength and maturity to choose the right people.

"When I was younger, I was very different. I was rambunctious and I took on my sexuality in a very aggressive way. I was young and sex, rebelliousness, angst and aggression were all part of who I was.

"I've got much more relaxed and playful these days. I'm still a very sexual person but I don't want to be so aggressive. I want to be more tongue-in-cheek."

Rihanna reveals her 'nipplegate' fears

Barbadian singer Rihanna admits that she is terrified that she will fall victim to a wardrobe malfunction while performing in skimpy outfits.

The singer performed in Toronto over the weekend, and set men drooling with a skimpy dominatrix outfit with a matching umbrella.

However, she admits that she was worried that something would go wrong.

"That's the worst thing," the Sun quoted Rihanna, as saying.

"You have to go for fittings to make sure the stuff is pretty secure," she added.

But she also insists that she loves dressing up in racy clothes.

"In terms of dress, that's just the way I'm feeling at that particular moment. I'm just dressing how I feel and being more comfortable in my skin. I love dressing up. I always did, even before all this," Rihanna she said.

Playboy offers Pamela Anderson, Denise Richards $1m to pose nude

Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards are considering an offer to posing nude together in an upcoming issue of ‘Playboy’ magazine for which they will be paid a whopping 1 million dollars.

A source revealed to Globe that ‘Playboy’ boss Hugh Hefner wants the actresses to team up for a spread in the January 2008 issue of the publication.

"Neither Pam nor Denise has committed yet, but they're seriously considering it," a source told Globe.

The pair became firm friends last year in Canada when they shot mob comedy Blonde and Blonder.

Both the blondes have in the past also disrobed for the men's magazine.

Anderson has appeared nude at a record of 12 times in Playboy whereas Richards has stripped for the December 2004 issue of the mag.

Ashlee Simpson's father confirms Ahslee's nose job

Joe Simpson, who manages her singing career, says the 22-year-old star underwent rhinoplasty last year purely for health reasons.

Joe - who also manages eldest daughter Jessica - told Us Weekly magazine: "Girls have their own ideas. Anyway, there was a real problem with her breathing and that was cured."

It was recently claimed Ashlee - who has always refused to comment on rumors she had plastic surgery - decided to have her nose straightened so she could be as attractive as Jessica.

A source said: "Ashlee has always been cute but for a long time she felt like the ugly duckling of the family compared to Jessica. Every time she looked in the mirror, she saw a too-prominent nose, and she decided to do something about it.

"She was thrilled with the results. She basically had the bump on her nose shaved down."

Meanwhile, Joe claims he played no part in the breakdown of Jessica's marriage to Nick Lachey.
The former Baptist minister denied claims he is a controlling father who runs his daughters' love lives.

He said: "I don't tell my girls who to date or marry or what to do.

"I have nothing against Nick. But they got married very young. I told Jessica, 'You're going to hit an age when it's all going to be clear to you - life that is - and you'll know what you want to do.'"

Britney Spears gets back to singing

Its been nearly a month since Britney delighted fans with the release of her new single 'Gimme More'. A month that Britney would like to quickly put behind her and she may well be doing just that by getting back to the one thing she can still do well - sing!

Britney has an album slated for release on 12 Nov 2007 - her first studio album since In the Zone in November 2003. Though she has already recorded some of the tracks that will go on the album some work still needs to be done.

On Wednesday, 26 Sep 2007, Britney visited a recording studio in Burbank, LA., with cousin Ali Sims.

On the way, she stopped by Acupolco, a Mexican restaurant. When she came out of the restaurant she was faced the usual mob of paparazzi.

Frequenting restaurants is obviously not the best way to avoid paparazzi attention and we think Britney will figure that out one day.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt plan to take their children trick-or-treating

The Hollywood couple - who have three adopted children, six-year-old Maddox, three-year-old Pax and two-year-old Zahara, as well as 16-month-old biological daughter Shiloh - are determined to do 'normal' things with their kids, despite forever being in the spotlight.

Angelina told Britain's OK! magazine: "I've made a point not to let the press attention change the way that I live my life, other than carefully planning my holidays.

"I think that the only time that it's hard is when the kids want to go somewhere and want to see something. I've had so many people offer to take my children to Disneyland or places that I can't take them and they don't understand how upsetting that is, or take my kids trick or treating or take my kids to do whatever - things they assume my kids can't do. So we plan to find ways to do all those things. There are worse problems and so we're OK."

The Oscar-winning actress says she and Brad celebrated Halloween last year by dressing up the children in an Indian hotel room.

She revealed: "Last year we were in India and so we had this really odd celebration in the hotel. We just had candy and costumes sent up from the States and so Zahara had a really big afro and Maddox had dreadlocks. We tried to explain to them what it was, but we just had some fun with dress up."

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie participated in a discussion Wednesday on the Promise of Education in Conflict and Post Conflict Situations as part of the third annual Clinton Global Initiative conference.

Other participants included the Afghan Minister of Education, the President of Columbia, and the founder of the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation.

The discussion was moderated by New York Times Columnist Nicholas Kristof.

Angelina was brought to tears as she recalled meeting an 8-year-old boy on her last trip to Syria who had been set on fire & dumped in the trash.

CGI is a non-partisan catalyst for action initiative that invites leaders from countries, non-profit organizations, charities, and businesses to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, tennis star Andre Agassi and media mogul Rupert Murdoch were among the celebrities on the guest list this year.

Only those willing to pay a registration fee of $15,000 and commit time or money to the focal issues of the conference are considered as possible guests.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are making good use of their time in New York, the world's financial capital and the seat of the United Nations, to promote their humanitarian endeavors.

Wednesday, 26 September 2007, was an eventful day for the couple, reports People magazine.
Brad attended a luncheon at the third annual Clinton Global Initiative conference in the city and sought commitments for his Make It Right program under which he and billionaire partner Steve Bing plan to build 150 affordable and environmentally friendly homes in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward.

Pitt and Bing promised to match commitments made under CGI to the extent of $ 5 million.
CGI is a non-partisan catalyst for action initiative that invites leaders from countries, non-profit organizations, charities, and businesses to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges.

Also on Wednesday, Jolie, a Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), attended a press conference with the High Commissioner Antonio Guteres, to promote the Nine Million initiative of the agency which aims to educate nine million refugee children affected by violence and conflict by 2010.

Later that evening, in a session focused exclusively on education for children in Iraq and Darfur, 32-year-old Jolie provided her insight based on her recent visits there.

"These are the children who most need a safe place to learn, a place to heal, a place to learn reconciliation, and a place to just be children," she said.

"Some think we should only provide emergency relief to children in conflict ... They say education is not life-saving. All of us here today would beg to differ," she added.

Even as they promote their humanitarian endeavors the couple continues to devote a large part of their time to their four children, three of whom are adopted. They also continue to make a living. Brad Pitt is frequently seen in the city on the sets of his under production film Burn After Reading, which costars his friend George Clooney.

Halle Berry hires security guards after racist threats to baby

Expecting mum Halle Berry has hired security guards after she received racist threats to harm her unborn baby.

Berry, who was born to a white father and an Afro-American mother, is expecting her first child with beau Gabriel Aubry.

The actress got anonymous letters that said her baby would be ‘cut into hundreds of pieces’.

A source close to the Oscar winner said that Berry doesn’t hire security, but after the threats she has roped in two guards.

The source also said that police is probing the threats.

"Halle does not normally use security but she has taken on a couple of guys to make sure," the Mirror quoted the source, as saying.

Jessica and Ashlee Simpson are set to duet, after Ashlee revealed they are currently writing songs together.

The sisters - who have each forged their own successful solo careers - have been writing songs together for years and are now considering teaming up in the recording studio.

Ashlee told E! Online: "We write well together. I can't say never, but she's definitely got her own style, and I have my own style. But who knows?"

The 'Pieces of Me' singer also lent her support to troubled singer Britney Spears, who has faced a barrage of criticism following her disastrous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month.

Ashlee - who was caught miming on her 'live' performance on 'Saturday Night Live' in 2004 - said: "To tell you the truth, I have not seen the performance. I was actually sitting upstairs, so I can't say anything on it-but I wish her the best.

"I think we all have our ups and our downs, and you have got to look for the positive side of things."

Ashlee and boyfriend Pete Wentz are reportedly engaged. The Fall Out Boy rocker is said to have proposed after his Live Earth performance in New Jersey in July.

Pamela Anderson's wild partying putting her health at risk

The former 'Baywatch' star - who contracted hepatitis C from sharing a tattoo needle with ex-husband Tommy Lee - is said to be in danger of seriously damaging her liver with her excessive drinking and constant partying.

A source told New York Post newspaper: "She parties almost every night. She drinks, she does stuff and she's got hepatitis C. Her liver is shot but she keeps living this crazy lifestyle.

"We don't think she understands how serious this is. She has two kids and may not be around to see them grow up at this rate."

The 40-year-old actress - mother to sons Brandon, 11, and Dylan, nine - is said to be leading an even wilder lifestyle since she began dating Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon.

The source said: "They went wild over the MTV Video Music Awards weekend. I just watched them party with my jaw open."

Pamela has allegedly been telling friends she is engaged to Rick - who she has only known for six weeks - and has even told some pals they are already married.

The actress' two sons are mostly cared for by Pamela's brother or mother while she stars in Hans Klok's Las Vegas magic show.

A representative for the Blonde and Blonder star declined to comment.

George Clooney's new girlfriend's raunchy past revealed

George Clooney's current ladylove Sarah Larson will probably not be too pleased with new pictures of her that are making the rounds, especially as they show that she has a rather racy past.

Larson not only worked as a scantily-clad cocktail waitress at Las Vegas's Moon nightclub at the Palms Hotel, but as new photos have shown, she also had men drooling while working as a promotional model.

While skimpy clothes were all part of the job, there are also pictures that show the slender brunette posing provocatively with another woman while working in Amsterdam in 2005, reports the Daily Mail.

Sarah met Clooney at the Ocean's Thirteen premiere party in the hotel in June and has been enjoying the perks of a celebrity life ever since.

She was spotted romancing the actor at the Venice film festival, and was wearing 1.5million pounds worth of Bulgari diamonds.

Following their stint in Venice, the couple boarded Clooney's private jet and headed off to France to attend the Deauville film festival.

The couple however found themselves in hospital last week after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car in New Jersey.

While Clooney suffered a hairline fracture of a rib and road rash, Larson was left with a broken foot.

Paris Hilton to visit Rwanda to fulfill post-jail vow

Paris Hilton is planning to visit Rwanda in November this year, as a part of her post-prison commitment.

The hotel heiress said that she wants to spread awareness about the African country, where genocide is rampant and show people what they can do to help.

"I'll be going in November, after I get back from filming my movie," E! Online quoted Hilton, as saying.

"There's so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help," Hilton said of the region.

However, Rwanda is not the socialite's last stop, for she plans to visit more countries that are plagued by poverty and children's issues.

"I want to visit more countries where poverty and children's issues are a big concern," Hilton said.

"I know there's a lot of good I can do just by getting involved and bringing attention to these issues," she added.

Apart from working for noble cause, the 26-year-old is also planning to make her new Beverly Hills home more "green friendly."

"I just bought the house and haven't been able to work on it yet. But I intend to," Hilton said.

Lohan 'staying in Utah': mother

Lindsay Lohan's mother has denied reports that the troubled US actress is set to check out of a rehabilitation centre later this week.

Dina Lohan told the Access Hollywood television show in an email today that the 21-year-old would stay in the exclusive Utah facility where she has been undergoing treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.
"Not true," Dina Lohan told Access Hollywood in an emailed response to reports that her daughter was leaving rehab soon, insisting she was "staying in Utah."

A source close to Lohan meanwhile told People magazine: "Lindsay is not leaving Cirque Lodge in Utah any time soon. She has a few more weeks to grow and develop, and she is doing great."
Lohan was checked into the facility in early August. It followed two separate incidents earlier this year where she was arrested for drink-driving.

Lohan, the star of Herbie: Fully Loaded and Freaky Friday, was first arrested after smashing her Mercedes into a curb in Beverly Hills in May. A second arrest for drunk-driving followed in July.

She later received a one-day jail sentence for two counts of drunk driving, two counts of being under the influence of cocaine and one count of reckless driving.

Jennifer Aniston, Eckhart to co-star in 'Traveling'

Jennifer Aniston has signed on to star opposite Aaron Eckhart in the Universal Pictures' drama 'Traveling'.

The movie will mark Brandon Camp's directorial debut, and was co-written by him and by longtime writing partner Mike Thompson.

In the film, Aniston will be playing a floral designer who works in a Seattle hotel where a charismatic self-help guru is conducting a weekend seminar on coping with grief.

As he gets to know Aniston's character, the guru realizes that he practices none of the principles he teaches, reports Variety.

Stuber/Parent's Scott Stuber and Mary Parent will produce with Thompson, with filming to begin early next year.

Currently the former 'Friends' star is busy filming a small role in New Line's ensemble He's Just Not That Into You, after which she moves onto Stephen Belber-directed pic Management with Steve Zahn.

She is also booked to star in the David Frankel-directed Fox 2000 film Marley & Me with Owen Wilson, but that film has been postponed until at least spring.

Actress Jessica Biel is reportedly in talks to star as Wonder Woman in the new film “Justice League of America.”

Variety reports the superhero movie will feature Wonder Woman as well as Superman, Batman, Aquaman and the Flash.

Warner Brothers refuses to comment on casting for the movie, instead preferring to announce the entire ensemble cast at one time.

Kieran and Michele Mulroney are writing the script.

George Miller (“Mad Max,” “The Witches of Eastwick” and “Happy Feet”) is on board as the director and Joel Silver (“The Matrix,” “House of Wax,” “V for Vendetta” and “The Invasion”) is set to produce.

Variety reports “Justice League” could lead to a Wonder Woman spinoff.

On Friday, 21 Sep 2007, Angelina Jolie met with Colin Powell and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to discuss her recent trips to Iraq and Syria.

Angelina Jolie is to find mention on Foreign Office Web site which is being revamped following Gordon Brown becoming Prime Minister in June.

A Member of Parliament from the constituency of South Shields, Tyne and Wear, Miliband has earlier served as Minister of State for Communities and Local Government and Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

He took over as Foreign Secretary one day after Gordon Brown became the Prime Minister and was the first British cabinet member to have a blog.

Paris Hilton was spotted leaving the 16th Annual amfAR Rocks benefit event Monday (24 Sep 2007) at The Puck Building with her new 22-year-old Swedish tourist Alex Vaggo. The heiress arrived at the event alone.

According to Page Six, Paris intends to introduce the handsome looking Alex, who currently stays in the $27 a night USA hostel and shares his room with six others, to Ford Models scouts this week.

Paris was introduced to Alex on the street near the hostel and took an immediate liking to him
Alex is reportedly living much better since he came in contact with Paris.

Kate Moss, Sienna Miller's abusive catfight at pal's wedding

Supermodel Kate Moss and actress Sienna Miller ended up in a foul-mouthed fighting over actor Rhys Ifans, when they met at a mutual friend's reception.

Sienna arrived at the reception in London with Rhys, while Kate was accompanied by a new guy called Jamie Hince and best friend Sadie Frost.

Sources have revealed that after the two women had taken some drinks, they were entangled in a catfight.

"Kate had a go at Sienna and accused her of stealing her style. She was ranting on about how Sienna was now trying to steal her lifestyle and her friends too. It was really cutting and everyone was listening to them," the Sun quoted a source, as saying.

"A few drinks had been sunk by the time Kate said it and Sienna had plucked up some Dutch courage too. She gave Kate as good as she got," the source said.

Kate and Rhys had been friends for years, and it is alleged that because of Sienna that their friendship broke.

Justin Timberlake leads in MTV Europe Music Awards nominations

Justin Timberlake leads the pack at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, after receiving four nominations.

The 'SexyBack' singer - who is hoping to replicate his success at the MTV Video Music Awards, where he scooped two prizes - is up for Video Star for 'What Goes Around... Comes Around', Headliner for his successful 'FutureSex/LoveShow World Tour' and has been named in the Ultimate Urban category.

Justin will also do battle with Mika, Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado and Rihanna in the prestigious Solo Artist of 2007.

Avril, Christina, Nelly and Rihanna are all up for three awards.

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has also received three nods, along with Beyoncé Knowles, Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance.

Amy is the only female to be shortlisted in the Best UK & Ireland Act category, where she takes on Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons, Mark Ronson and Muse.

Amy, 25, has also been nominated for Album of the Year, along with Akon, Avril, Linkin Park and Nelly.

The Band of 2007 award will be contested by Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte and Tokio Hotel.

Kanye West is set to lock horns again with old rival Justice in the Video Star category, with the hip-hop star's 'Stronger' pitted against 'D.A.N.C.E'.

Last year, Kanye stormed the stage after his video for 'Touch The Sky' lost out to the French electronic duo's 'We Are Your Friends'.

Nominees Avril, My Chemical Romance, Mika and the Foo Fighters are expected to perform at the ceremony, which takes place in Munich, Germany, on November 1, with US rapper Snoop Dogg hosting proceedings at the city's Olympiahalle arena.

This year, MTV has handed control of the awards over to online voters. Fans can pick the winners at http://ema.mtv.co.uk/

Dita Von Teese in a raunchy new advertising campaign

The burlesque dancer donned a racy outfit to pose as a teacher in adverts for PETA's new Animal Birth Control (ABC) campaign, unveiled in Los Angeles yesterday (9/24/2007).

Dita - real name Heather Sweet - is pictured standing in front of a blackboard in a pink and black corset, fish-net stockings and black stilettos as a seated older man gazes up at her entranced.

In a video accompanying the advert on PETA's website she says: "Every year, nearly four million dogs and cats are put to death in the US because there are not enough good homes for them.

"I had a cat as a child and it had seven or eight kittens so I understood from a young age that it mattered to me where these babies went.

"You have to be responsible not just for your pet but for any animals your pet will produce, so I've always spayed and neutered my pets."

Dita - who filed for divorce from husband Marilyn Manson last December - also hit out at irresponsible pet owners.

The 34-year-old star said: "It makes me so angry when people get a pet and then think they can just give it away when they don't want it anymore. Your responsibility lasts for the pet's whole lifetime."

Another PETA campaign in which Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone appeared naked to promote vegetarianism was set to run on TV in Houston last week, but was reportedly pulled because of its racy content.

Britney Spears using asthma inhaler to lose weight?

The troubled singer, who does not suffer from the respiratory illness, is allegedly puffing on the medical aid to suppress her appetite.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Britney doesn't have asthma. She's using the chemical epinephrine, found in asthma medications, as an appetite suppressant."

Friends are extremely concerned about her reported use of the inhalers as Australian cover girl Krissy Taylor died from using a similar weight loss method.

The 17-year-old model, who had appeared in Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Elle magazines, suffered a fatal heart attack after using an inhaler to control her appetite.

Medics warn side effects include headaches, dizziness, nausea and an irregular heartbeat.

Britney - whose figure was criticized after her performance at the MTV Video Music awards, in which she wore a sparkly bra and hotpants - has told pals she will "do anything" to lose weight.
Meanwhile, Britney's former bodyguard has claimed the 25-year-old star made him hold a curtain around her table as she took drugs in a nightclub.

Tony Barretto - who was fired by the 'Toxic' singer in May - claims he saw the mother-of-two take illegal substances on at least two occasions.

He said: "One incident happened at her table. And she had me hold a curtain to make her area private and at one point it was getting kind of hard to continue to hold the curtain for such a long period of time, so I looked over and to get her approval to let go of the curtain, at which point I noticed what she was doing."

However, Barretto insists he never saw Britney take drugs in front of her two sons, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James.

This week, Barretto made sensational claims about Britney's wild lifestyle.
