Britney Spears Apparently Drives Over Paparazzo's Foot

Video footage on gossip site shows tire tracks on photographer's sock after incident.

Between driving without a license, shaving her head and flubbing one of the most important performances of her career, Britney Spears' judgment could be said to be somewhat puzzling recently. But at least she seems to know better than to walk into the path of a moving car.

In an incident caught on tape by gossip site Hollywood.TV just hours after the singer's visitation rights with her kids were suspended on Thursday (see "Britney Spears' Visitation Rights Are Suspended"), Spears appears to run over the foot of an unnamed paparazzo while attempting to leave a doctor's office in Beverly Hills, California, in her white Mercedes convertible Thursday at around 5 p.m. Her car is surrounded by photographers, including one who goes down while standing in the path of the luxury car.

The vehicle comes to an abrupt stop and Spears honks her horn, and then the scrum of assembled photographers shout at her to stop repeatedly. As fellow paps continue to shoot, others are heard apparently asking the fallen photographer, "Are you ok?" After Spears has pulled out of the garage, one of the videographers goes over to a paparazzo wearing sandals and asks, "You all right, man? I heard your foot crack, dog." Spears does not stop or get out of the car at any point and video footage appears to show the man with a tire-track mark on the white athletic sock underneath his sandal.

According to Hollywood.TV, the man's foot was allegedly broken in the incident. A videographer at the scene interviewed another paparazzo with a video camera (who is seen showing his footage to some passersby, who give advice on how to make the image clearer) and asks what he saw. "They told her to go and she went ... right over his foot," the man says.

Another clip of the run-in, from TMZ.com, clearly shows Spears' car on top of the photographer's foot. The singer, with her hand covering her mouth during the entire affair, doesn't appear to acknowledge the mishap as she tries to steer out of the garage.

Hollywood.TV interviewed another photographer who said he was on the scene: "She was pulling out from the parking garage, she was coming down on a ramp slowly. We moved in to get our shots and then I heard a paparazzo yelling in pain ... I looked down and his foot is under the tire. I've seen this happen once before, when Britney wasn't driving and one of her friends ... was driving the car. ... I know how dangerous this can be, because you can get rolled right over — broken leg, broken foot, everything can happen. I mean, I heard his bones crack in his foot. He was wearing sandals."

Asked if he actually observed the car drive over the shooter's foot, the man said, "I physically saw the car drive over his bare, sandaled foot. He had a sock on." The public-information officer for the Beverly Hills Police Department could not be reached for comment at press time to confirm whether a police report had been filed in the incident.

In slightly happier Britney vehicular news, TMZ is reporting that Spears has settled her civil case with the owner of the car she hit in a parking lot last August (see "Britney Spears Booked On Traffic Charges"). That hit-and-run recently resulted in criminal charges for the singer.

Law-enforcement sources told the gossip site that had Spears settled the civil case and that the criminal charges might have been dropped. Sources told TMZ that Spears agreed to pay the car's owner $1,000 for damages, plus rental-car expenses.

Owen Wilson makes first public appearance since his suicide bid

The 'Wedding Crashers' star - who was rushed to hospital in August after slitting his wrists - attended the Los Angeles premiere of his new film 'The Darjeeling Limited' last night.

He was joined on the red carpet by co-stars Adrien Brody, Anjelica Huston, Jason Schwartzman and director Wes Anderson.

Before the movie started, Anderson introduced his good friend Wilson, saying: "I've never made a movie without him and I hope I never have to."

The pair have worked together on several films, including Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenenbaums, for which they were nominated for a best screenplay Oscar.

Wilson's close friend Ben Stiller recently revealed his Zoolander co-star is doing well.

Stiller said: "He's doing really well. I sort of like to protect his privacy, because I feel like it's his own thing. But he's a really good friend of mine. He's an incredible guy and I wish him, as everybody does, all the best."

The pair were due to be reunited on screen for new comedy Tropic Thunder, but Wilson pulled out after issuing a statement saying he was recovering from the incident.

He has been replaced by Matthew McConaughey.

Lindsay Lohan contemplates going back to school

Lindsay Lohan is set to turn her back on acting to go back to school.

A source told Fox News: "Despite what so many people think, Lindsay is an incredibly smart girl and always wanted to have that college experience.

"She has looked into a few institutions on the east coast and will most likely major in something like psychology. At this stage, New York University is a hot favorite."

Movie insiders claim her acting career may be in tatters regardless of her college plans.

A high-profile Paramount producer revealed: "It will most likely take years of perfect behavior before Lindsay will work again.

"It will literally cost a network millions to insure her for a movie and as talented as she is, it is highly unlikely that studios will be quick to get her back on the set."

Lindsay is currently enjoying a five-day trip in the Utah mountains with her father Michael as part of her rehab treatment.

She has been allowed to take a cell phone and requested a DVD player for their mountain lodge.
Lindsay was due to start shooting the movie Poor Things opposite Hollywood beauty Rosario Dawson in mid-October.

However, the project is said to have been delayed after Lindsay failed a drugs test and was forced to remain in rehab.

Aniston doesn’t really care what you think

A self-imposed hiatus has given the actress new strength

Young stars of Hollywood, listen up! Jennifer Aniston is offering up some words of wisdom.

“Always keep your work first. Hype is second, and don’t let that become part of your reality,” Aniston said in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “Just stay real and do your job.”

A stunning and sun-kissed Aniston graces the cover of the magazine’s 140th anniversary issue (out on newsstands Oct. 23), and inside the pages the former “Friend” gets candid about Hollywood’s attention-seeking stars, life after Brad Pitt and the idea of leaving Los Angeles behind for good.

After a self-imposed two-year hiatus from acting, Aniston is ready to get return to the spotlight — and she’s not holding anything back.

“Everything is just so dramatic,” she says on the current state of Hollywood. “But you to have to remember that we’re the luckiest people in the world to do what we get to do and get paid for it.”

As far as getting back to work, it looks like Aniston will be plenty busy in the months to come.
She has a number of projects she is either currently shooting (“He’s Just Not That Into You”) or several coming down the pike, including “Management,” “Gambit” and “Wanted.”

But Aniston says she is returning to the Hollywood scene with a newfound strength she developed shortly after her highly publicized split from Pitt.

“I used to care a hell of a lot more about what people said or thought,” she admits. “But that had to change when my life was under a microscope being scrutinized and my personal life was being talked about.”

And while she may be prepared to brave the paparazzi storm, given the choice, she said she’d still prefer to avoid it altogether. And if that’s not possible in Los Angeles, than maybe it’s time for her to relocate.

“I’m just tired of Los Angeles,” Aniston added, noting she recently visited New York City and was able to walk the streets unnoticed. “If you can get away from the paparazzi and they don’t know where you are, you can actually walk, walk, walk.”

However, forever the fashionista, she contends she may have made the wrong wardrobe choice for her Gotham City stroll.

“I was wearing flip-flops. And I was like, Jen, not the smartest shoes to wear in New York City,” Aniston joked.

Ashlee Simpson may have gone beyond nose job

In Touch Weekly claims singer gets Botox monthly for wide-eyed look

When she burst on to MTV screens in “The Ashlee Simpson Show” in 2004, the plucky younger sister of Jessica won fans and attention for her vocal talents, her attitude and her individual sense of style. In recent years, Ashlee Simpson has changed her look and one magazine is claiming today that the 23-year-old is keeping her look up through frequent Botox injections.

“Everybody is talking about how stunning you look — new hair, new weight regime,” Tim Vincent told the star in a 2006 interview with Access Hollywood.
“I think it’s growing up and growing into my beauty,” the singer responded. “You try things out, and what not, and I’m comfortable in my skin.”

In 2006, Simpson debuted a more diminutive nose. Many speculated it was the result of plastic surgery. Now, In Touch Weekly claims Simpson didn’t just stop with a new nose. In their latest issue, the magazine claims Simpson is getting Botox injections once a month.

“When someone is smiling, certainly when they are smiling genuinely, you would expect a slight crinkle around the eyes, which I don’t see,” facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Levine, who does not treat Simpson, told Access. “So I would have to expect that she has had some Botox to that area.”

And that’s not all. The magazine claims Ashlee is using the procedure to lift the brow in order to give her a wide-eyed look.

Dr. Levine reveals that’s a less common use of Botox.

“I would argue that someone who is 23 would probably have a very natural and pleasing brow position and it wouldn’t really be necessary,” she said.

Ashlee’s spokesperson, however, refutes the claims.

“Ashlee has never had Botox in her life,” the rep said in a statement released exclusively to Access Hollywood. “She credits her eyebrows to her makeup artist who is a whiz with the tweezer.”

As for In Touch Weekly, they said they stand by their story, in a statement of their own to Access.

Behind the Battle for Madonna

At a time when lagging CD sales and music piracy have made the album a mere accessory to touring, merchandising and licensing, it's no wonder that ailing record labels like Warner Music Group have been exploring ways to get a piece of that much more lucrative side of the business.

So just imagine how they must feel now that Live Nation, the world's largest concert promoter, is close to stealing away pop music icon Madonna for a cool $120 million in cash and stock.

The 10-year deal, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, would include the rights to sell three studio albums, promote Madonna's concerts and sell licensing name rights and merchandise, meaning a company that has never represented an artist before would suddenly be overall talent agent to one of the world's biggest music acts. If it is consummated — and both Warner Music and Live Nation refused requests to comment on the deal — it would be just the latest example of the increasingly prevalent so-called 360-degree deals that have concert promoters, record labels, ticketing agencies and management firms all invading each other's turf.

The hefty potential payout comes on the heels of a similarly bold move by Live Nation over the summer. In August, the king of concerts decided not to renew the contract that gave Ticketmaster exclusive ticketing distribution for most of Live Nation's 29,000 annual events, a loss that will rob the ticketing giant of about 20% of its sales.
Instead, Live Nation is pumping up its own in-house ticket distribution arm, already the third largest in the world, which gives it a direct link to the music fans attending its shows. Not to be outdone, Ticketmaster significantly increased its stake in Front Line Management, an agency that represents such acts as Christina Aguilera, Jimmy Buffett and Aerosmith, when rumors swirled that Live Nation wouldn't renew its contract.
Warner, for its part, has been looking around for partners, potentially hooking up with none other than IAC/ InterActive Corp, Ticketmaster's parent, as a way to counter Live Nation's proposal to manage all of Madonna's concerts and album releases. And earlier this summer Warner Music formed a joint venture with Violator Management, a firm that negotiates roles for rappers in films, advertisements, video games and TV programs.

The wave of consolidation in the industry may make sense for the suits, but it's not clear that it benefits the artists. Some acts like Radiohead and Prince have recently bypassed labels — and the tremendous cut of profits they typically take — altogether. Last week Radiohead released its new album, "In Rainbows," online with a "pay what you want" model. Similarly, Prince gave away 3 million shrink-wrapped copies of his new album last year in London's Sunday Mail newspaper.

"I wouldn't bundle all these rights into one cross-collateralized company," argues Randy Phillips, who manages Lionel Richie and is President and CEO of AEG Live, the second largest concert promoter after Live Nation. Phillips says Warner Music contacted him a few months ago to be a potential partner when they were worried about Madonna being stolen away, though the two didn't ultimately make a deal. "I think an artist can fare better with direct relationships. It takes different skill sets to maximize revenue in the different areas and the artist cheats herself by trying to put it all together."

Others see it differently. "It benefits the artist by having one company do it all because the agendas are aligned," says Jon Cohen, co-president of Cornerstone Promotion, which does music marketing. Regardless, most everybody agrees this particular deal would be a no-brainer for Madonna. "She is 49 years old and this is enormous risk mitigation," says Jim McCarthy, CEO of Goldstar Events, a ticketing distributor.

Despite all the speculation, the deal is not even finalized. "I wouldn't totally count out Warner Music in terms of keeping her," says Phillips.
