Was 2017 the year animals turned cannibal? see videos

The animal kingdom can be a scary place.

TV fans have been gripped by the return of the spectacular Planet series, with David Attenborough bringing follow-ups to 2001’s Blue Planet and Planet Earth within a year of each other.

So it is clear the nation remains fascinated with nature in all of its brutality.

Metro.co.uk has done some research and it appears viral videos from the past year have also been predominantly focussed on animals.

But disastrously it appears creatures from across the globe have been linked by one common thread – cannibalism.

Psycho Seagull eats pigeon

A bloodthristy gull was filmed swallowing a much smaller pigeon whole before casually walking away without a second glance.

It takes the gull just seconds to devour its victim alive.

The horrific clip, filmed in Rome, Italy, left some viewers traumatised when it went viral earlier this year.

snake eats another living snake

Christopher Denmon’s video of a snake regurgitating another – live – snake after devouring it whole, went viral earlier this year.

The aspiring artist and photographer racked up more than 4.5 million views on his YouTube video, filmed on a roadside in Texas, US.

Not long after turning on his camera, the snake brought up its eaten prey and increidbly, it was still breathing.

‘That is his super, ultra, lottery-lucky day,’ Denmon says in the clip.

It’s not the first time snakes have eaten their own kind – albeit different species.

In January, an eastern bwon snake – one of the world’s most venomous – shocked a woman in Australia by devouring an entirte carpet python.

Crocodile Cannibal

Australian photographer Anthony Moore was touring Kruger National Park in South Africa on December 16, when he stopped to enjoy the view of a river. As he watched, however, Anthony spotted a crocodile with something in its mouth. He was stunned to discover that it was actually the carcass of another croc. Anthony says that the smaller crocodile was already dead by the time he had arrived, but probably not for long
